Anchorage Digital is expanding from crypto infrastructure into the systems businesses use to pay vendors, contractors and other recipients. The company announced the acquisition on Oct. 6, bringing enterprise payout platform Routable under its umbrella. Financial terms were not included in the announcement.
Axios reported the deal, saying it gives Anchorage a route for putting stablecoins into payment systems that large companies already use. Routable handles the less glamorous but essential work around high-volume payouts, including onboarding recipients, automating compliance and connecting business software to payment rails.
Joining digital assets with everyday payouts
Anchorage provides infrastructure for stablecoin issuance, custody and settlement. Routable supplies the distribution layer between a company's enterprise resource planning software and the networks that move fiat money. Anchorage says the combined platform is intended to let corporate customers manage payouts across dollars, euros, stablecoins and tokenized deposits without stitching together separate systems.
Routable will operate as “Routable by Anchorage Digital.” The company says native stablecoin and tokenized-deposit settlement will be added to Routable, while integrated products will roll out over the coming quarters. That timing matters: the acquisition is complete, but the broader cross-asset offering remains an announced roadmap rather than a finished product.
Routable brings an existing enterprise business
Founded in 2017, Routable already markets its software to businesses sending large numbers of payments. Anchorage says the platform reaches more than 220 countries and serves enterprise customers including Veho, Ethos and Polestar. It also says Routable grew more than 100% in each of the past two years, a company-provided figure that was not independently audited in the available reporting.
The attraction is straightforward. Anchorage gets a fiat-native payments business with existing volume and customers, while Routable gains access to Anchorage's regulated digital-asset infrastructure. For corporate finance teams, the pitch is one payout system that can support traditional money today and add stablecoins or tokenized deposits as those options become useful.
