You can now assign Jira tickets directly to Claude Code.
Built right into Jira's UI: You can either select "Claude" from the assignee dropdown or mention it in a comment.
This is probably the most significant update to @Jira I can remember.
You need three things to make the integration work:
1. An Anthropic API Key 2. A GitHub repository with your code 3. Your Jira account
Here is how it works:
Assign an open ticket to Claude.
This will give the agent access to the full context of the issue, including acceptance criteria, comments, attachments, and more.
Atlassian is using Anthropic's Claude Managed Agents infrastructure, so Claude will clone your repo into a sandbox, implement the changes, and commit them to a pull request in your GitHub repository.
The Jira ticket will be automatically updated with the PR that needs your approval. Any changes in the GitHub repo will be streamed back to the Jira ticket.
Complete integration here between Jira, GitHub, and Claude.
There are so many companies that run on Jira, and I can't think of anything they will welcome more than this.
Thanks to @Atlassian for giving me early access to this announcement and for their partnership.
Jira 🤝 @ClaudeAI
You can now delegate tasks to the Claude Agent and go from work item to draft PR without ever leaving Jira.
One control plane for the entire SDLC.
