Meta and EssilorLuxottica used Meta Connect 2026 to introduce the third generation of Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, including an Aviator design and a limited-edition warm-beige version.
The official Ray-Ban product listing identifies the model as the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 Aviator Limited Edition. A Connect attendee who received a pair described it as a development device they planned to test after previously owning first-generation Meta glasses.
Gen 3 changes the frame more than the concept
EssilorLuxottica says the Gen 3 line has a slimmer, more comfortable design, longer battery life and a customizable action button for quick access to Meta AI. The broader collection spans 27 frame-and-lens combinations, with Aviator joining the established Wayfarer style and the new Zena cat-eye frame.
The limited Aviator is a launch treatment rather than a separate computing platform. It still requires a smartphone and the Meta AI app, according to Ray-Ban's product page. The official listing and event reports establish the product's existence and design, but a user's enthusiasm after pickup is an early impression rather than a performance review.
The Aviator carries extra brand significance because the silhouette is marking its 90th anniversary. For buyers, the practical questions remain fit, battery endurance, camera and audio quality, and whether the new action button makes the glasses easier to use day to day. Those questions require hands-on testing beyond the event pickup.
