@Noahpinion Their doomer rhetoric is how they sold it to investors. Well before LLMs & stable diffusion, an AI researcher was pitching tech to VCs for art tools that could create variations in an art style to help artists create more. The VC's 1st Q: How many people will this let me fire?

My take on data center moratoriums is that they don't matter. Data centers will go somewhere else and AI progress will not be affected. But AI companies should realize how their toxic doomer rhetoric has scared people into hating anything associated with their product.
