SecurityWeek reports Southern Company is notifying roughly 400,000 customers after unauthorized access to its online customer portal. Roughly 300,000 Georgia Power accounts and roughly 100,000 Alabama Power accounts were affected. Mississippi Power was also named in the company’s notice, without a customer figure. Southern Company says bank account, payment card and driver’s license numbers were not accessed. Affected customers are being offered a year of free credit monitoring.
