what frustrates me the most about the "ccp is blind" takes from people who have never experienced the ccp in any form is that arguably the entire problem with the ccp is that they are Very Much Not Blind you do not blindly bumble through lifting nearly a billion people out of poverty, and you do not blindly assert "authoritarian control" through mass surveillance without egregious abuse of power (debatable, pending which thinkfluencer you talk to who have been Reading Things) no functional authoritarian government is going to be ignorant, stupid, blind, or unconscious towards major technological changes that could threaten their entire social order and be a gateway drug for massive regime change via some AGI god that gets pulled by corporate strings who Know Better About What's Good for Mankind after a few lsd trips in a desert the authoritarians are stone cold sober pragmatists, and that is an extremely threatening position to give credence to, when these successful pragmatists now plan to commoditize the gold plated temples previously limited to american soil the commies are huffing and puffing to blow the house down, so the pigs have no choice but to squeal for protectionist help
