Last October OpenAI bragged GPT-5 solved 10 open Erdős problems. Turned out the proofs were already sitting in old papers, and Demis Hassabis called it embarrassing. Nine months later Bloom is checking genuinely new ones by hand and they hold up. Embarrassing to watershed in under a year.
