Many users praised Vercel Fluid for running WordPress from a single Dockerfile with 30-second deploys, highlighting the impressive speed and CPU billing model as major advantages.

I really enjoyed using 𝚙𝚘𝚛𝚝𝚕𝚎𝚜𝚜 by @ctatedev – http was a non-starter for local wp development!

@markokraemer @rauchg @vercel @PlanetScale @schniz Vercel functions have always been built on top of micro VMs (firecracker), the exception being edge runtime.
Some recent ships, including sandboxes, are the fruit of the compute team's multi-year effort to improve the underlying primitives, but it has always been micro VMs.

@rauchg @vercel @PlanetScale @schniz Running legacy WordPress on Vercel with a single Dockerfile and a 30s cloud build is wild.

@rauchg @samlambert @vercel @PlanetScale @schniz Make a lil Wordpress Plugin to offload media to Vercel Blob

@bahauddinalam @vercel @PlanetScale @schniz 30s on my Hobby account. Forgot to mention it should be way faster on Pro 😁

@_bgwoodruff @markokraemer @rauchg @vercel @PlanetScale Edge Functions originally didn’t, but now are using Fluid Compute for over a year, with better performance and stability than they had prior to the Fluid migration. This is an interesting story to tell, but not today! Today we celebrate the democratization of software packaging

@markokraemer @_bgwoodruff @rauchg @vercel @PlanetScale Lambdas were an implementation detail—they were used as microvm orchestration. As our product advanced it was apparent we do more to break out of the limits Lambda imposes. We had to build our own thing that fits what we want to ship and fits our goals.
(Lambdas are awesome)

@_bgwoodruff @rauchg @vercel @PlanetScale @schniz Yea ofc ur totally right
I guess the difference is that in the past it was straight aws lambda wrapping? & now this is ur own in house fork of firecracker / rust vmm & infra to serve stateful microvms?

@markokraemer @_bgwoodruff @rauchg @vercel @PlanetScale Calling what we did since we started working on fluid “straight AWS wrapper” is a weird and derogatory angle to look at any kind of software. We are happy customers of the cloud, and the abstractions and infra we build on top of these primitives ARE the product.

@rauchg @vercel @PlanetScale @schniz Recently had a friend ask where to deploy his website. I suggested Vercel and then he told me it was a Wordpress site. Glad Vercel continues be my go-to for more and more cases. Props to the team 👏

@rauchg @vercel @PlanetScale @schniz Just beautiful

Its so funny! everything is becoming microvms. Are you guys moving your entire compute to be completely on fluid? I mean already u kind of did as I see
Did the agent sandboxes made u realise how much better of a compute form it is… basically for everything!
Its the beauty of the super fast 100`ms cold start & a fully stateful machine. Any downsides u see switching?
Its insane, I mean fly io started doing it years ago.
But its def going to become the mainstream, microVMs for everything!

@rauchg @vercel @PlanetScale @schniz Fantastic, Guillermo.

@rauchg @vercel @PlanetScale @schniz we spent a decade decomposing monoliths only to reconstruct the classic lamp paradigm using ephemeral execution environments and decoupled transactional storage. the architectural cycle always converges back to cgi-bin. we just added fifty network hops to it.

@rauchg @vercel @PlanetScale @schniz Repo link?

@rauchg @vercel @PlanetScale @schniz 30s is neat until you realize you just containerized WordPress in 2026. 🙃

@maurohouseless @rauchg @vercel @PlanetScale If it fits in a Dockerfile it is fluid compatible

@rauchg @vercel @PlanetScale @schniz 30s cloud builds for WordPress is funny given how long it takes to click through the wp-admin wizard. 🤷
