Turo plans to flag Tesla rentals with Full Self-Driving (Supervised)

Turo plans to identify which Teslas on its rental marketplace have Full Self-Driving (Supervised), according to Sean O’Kane’s Oct. 26 report for TechCrunch. Turo told the outlet it is working with Tesla to access its API and verify which cars have the software enabled. Eligible hosts who rent out their cars on Turo will receive a free one-month trial.

Despite its name, Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is a driver-assistance system that still requires human supervision. TechCrunch reports that renters of equipped cars will see a warning to monitor the software and be ready to take over at any moment. They will also have the option to view a Tesla-created tutorial. A screenshot supplied by Turo describes driving “almost anywhere with your active supervision”; another shows owners can promote their cars as “Self-Driving” in listings.
