Nano Banana 2.1 launches with lower image-generation prices

The Decoder reports that Nano Banana 2.1 replaces Nano Banana 2, with a 1K image priced at 3.36 cents instead of 6.70 cents and a 4K image at 7.56 cents instead of 15.10 cents, citing Google's pricing. Google DeepMind's October 2026 model card says the new model uses Gemini 3.6 Flash and lists the Gemini app, AI Studio and Gemini API as distribution channels. The Decoder says Nano Banana Pro often still produces noticeably better images in practice, despite 2.1's higher scores in some benchmarks.
