So if Mythos drops today and the world doesn't end, do we assume that Project Glasswing worked perfectly or that Anthropic fearmongered to generate hype?

Many users dismissed Anthropic's Mythos launch and safety claims as hype for business or IPO gains, calling the validation methods a low bar and anticipating future problems.

@packyM surely they have amped up their safety system. what we don't know is the correlated brain damage

@packyM Glasswing seemed legit, I have friends in Cyber sec companies, as well as watching interviews with professionals high up, they seemed to say some of it is very serious and some of it is real but not as threatening as the headline suggests.

Anthropic gets to play the responsible hero ('we found thousands of critical vulns with Mythos Preview and rallied the industry!'), partners get free high-end vuln scanning, and they control the rollout timeline.

If/when Mythos drops safely, they can claim victory on Glasswing and look visionary. Classic AI lab playbook: hype the danger, then save the day. Smart business, questionable transparency.

What do you think? genuine caution or IPOtheatrer?"

@packyM The safeguards they put in place, the motivation to actually DO cyber attacks, the amount of money you’d need to spend to do it. All of these things probably contribute to the world not ending.

@packyM A determination of fear mongering would require critics to prove intent. We’d have to know that Dario knew that Mythos was a safety nothing burger and that he intended to deceive the public. Personally, I think that entire crew are zealots and true-believers.

@packyM There has been quite a bit of patching happening since Glasswing started. Folks don’t normally patch for fun.

@packyM nope. we should give ant credit about 'safety breakthrough' to control such power. either way dario wins lol
