Kimi Moonshot said on X that demand for Kimi K3 over the past 48 hours pushed its GPU capacity close to the limit, prompting a temporary pause on new subscriptions while it prioritizes compute for existing paid users. The company said current subscribers are unaffected, that it is adding capacity and will reopen spots in batches, and that it plans to split access into two plans: Kimi Membership for its web, app and work products, and Kimi Code Membership for coding workflows.

Kimi is pausing new subscriptions due to extremely high demand, and will be splitting their plans into Kimi Membership and Kimi Code Membership.

extremely unprofessional. if kimi wants to make it as a frontier lab, they need to act like one: perhaps silently route people to worse models, and maybe write a blog post about the collapse of humanity

Kimi K3 is facing a compute crunch. Demand is too heavy, so new subscriptions are currently blocked. Demand for Chinese local inference chips (like Huawei) should rise massively. Inference capacity is becoming the real bottleneck. Kimi K3 is almost a perfect workload for Huawei’s inference-chip strategy, the Ascend 950PR. Watch out for a Huawei moment.
