Google announces Gemini 4 Carbon with a cybersecurity focus and phased rollout

Google announced Gemini 4 Carbon on October 28, 2026. In the announcement, Koray Kavukcuoglu, senior vice president at Google DeepMind and Google’s chief AI architect, called it the company’s strongest model and emphasized its cybersecurity and long-horizon capabilities. Those are Google’s characterizations, not independently established results.

Google reports three cybersecurity benchmark results: 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro for finding vulnerabilities, 54.8% on ExploitGym for exploitation and 71.0% on CWE-bench for patching. The company says these external benchmarks were evaluated without guardrails. The scores describe the tests Google cited, not confirmed performance in a defender’s working environment.

Access is also a plan rather than a completed rollout. Google said it would start making Carbon available to a subset of cyber defenders during the week of the announcement, then gradually add trusted partners through its Fairwind Program. It said it would gather feedback and refine guardrails before offering Carbon to developers, businesses and consumers through its products. The announcement gave no date for that wider availability.
