Austen Allred, founder of Gauntlet AI and co-founder of BloomTech, said he works daily with AI and finds the models incredible and steadily improving. He added that comparisons to humans confuse him because the systems are probabilistic mathematical expressions at their core. In a follow-up post Allred stated the models have no thoughts, feelings, emotions, or desires. They function instead as mathematical models that use tools and predict the next token.

Austen Allred@AustenI spend all day every day in working in AI and marveling at what AI is capable of. The models are incredible and getting better every day. But when people start comparing them to humans I get so confused. They’re so clearly probabilistic mathematical expressions at their core.
