ORISA forensic tool recovers deleted chats from on-device Android AI apps

Android Authority, citing Georgia Tech researchers via Digital Trends, reports that ORISA recovered information from deleted chats in AI apps running locally on Android phones. In one experiment, a reconstructed session recalled 26 made-up facts; the original assistant could access only 14 before deletion. Researchers tested the tool across 10 apps, three AI models and 60 configurations. The method requires forensic access to device data and does not establish whether cloud-based chats are similarly recoverable.
