@alexstamos fully agree re: specialization
It’s the app layer but also the companies that will create and exploit (via selling, leasing or using) the hyper-specialized models. I don’t know how much longer companies will pay to hold the weights in memory needed to write poetry when they just want to redline contracts or do protein chemistry. If these new Chinese models are smart enough as a baseline to interact with and create a work plan then you will start to see startups use them as jumping off points for highly specialized knowledge work. That creates a scenario where there is still a market for Anthropic and OpenAI to create their 100T parameter AGI models next year while lots of innovation happens on more limited hardware.
