OpenAI Plans Watermarking for Future Models
Daniel Kokotajlo and Ted Sanders clarify OpenAI's plans on provenance signals and watermarking.
Daniel Kokotajlo noted an OpenAI help article that describes watermarking for images and audio while indicating plans to add text watermarking later. Ted Sanders replied that OpenAI intends to watermark future models in some way but is not doing so today. Sanders said his earlier comment referred only to those future plans and did not mean current models already include the feature. @DKokotajlo @bradrcarson Yes - sorry for being unclear. I meant OpenAI has the same plans and is going to do the same thing (ie, watermark future models in some way). Didn’t mean to imply they’re already doing it today.
