Guillermo Rauch, CEO of Vercel, stated that open weight models reached 62 percent of tokens on the AI Gateway on August 22. He contrasted this with 28.4 percent recorded in late June, when closed models held 71.6 percent. Closed models now stand at 38 percent. Rauch called the day a record and noted that enterprise tools still require adaptation. Yash Patil, co-founder of Applied Compute, replied to the post with the comment that the industry sits at the bottom of the curve.
