Google, Nvidia and Emerald AI launch flexible-power coalition for data centers

Google, Nvidia and Emerald AI are backing the AI Energy Management Alliance, Axios reports. The coalition wants regulators and utilities to reward data centers that reliably reduce grid demand with faster connections and potentially fewer costly grid upgrades. Coalition leaders say facilities could shift or pause AI computing jobs, use batteries or tap nearby power generation. Emerald AI CEO Varun Sivaram said faster or larger connections should depend on a facility’s ability to cut demand being “verifiable and enforceable.” Axios describes the alliance as a relaunch of a largely inactive group founded in 2014.
