OpenAI reportedly demoed a real-time bidirectional speech translation model

An October 2025 post described an OpenAI Frontiers demo in London of a bidirectional speech model trained further on translation data. The post said the model could translate into another language while someone was still speaking by waiting for complete verbs instead of translating word by word. It raised a possible launch in the weeks following the demo.
