when richard swanson (founder of sunpower) invented integrated back contact solar cells, it was for high concentration (500 suns!) and high efficiency (26% demonstrated on a tungsten filament at 2200K) it was for concentrated PV, and thermophotovoltaic generation. now @lightcellenergy wants to revive these for TPV! now, there are many vendors in china that make these. even 27% efficient cells form solar illumination. but, they don't bother to sell in the US market 😭 i need to buy like a billion of them and make lightcells somewhere in asia i think @jonogifford https://pv-magazine-usa.com/2025/09/19/solar-industry-icon-this-group-of-people-is-not-going-to-be-thwarted/
