SynthID Bio launches to watermark functional, AI-designed proteins

Google DeepMind's Pushmeet Kohli said SynthID Bio launched to watermark functional, AI-designed proteins and SynthID Detector opened to the public. In a discussion on Google's Public Policy blog, Kohli and Dartmouth professor Hany Farid argued that tracing digital content's origins requires watermarks, interoperable standards and cooperation across platforms. Farid noted that provenance tracks a file's origin and edits, not whether its contents are truthful.
