IWF assessed 6,310 AI-generated child sexual abuse images in first half of 2026
The IWF says that’s 40% more than the 4,512 such images its analysts identified in all of 2025.

The Internet Watch Foundation says its analysts assessed 6,310 AI-generated images meeting the legal definition of child sexual abuse from January through June 2026, compared with 4,512 in all of 2025. It says 79% of the first-half images depicted children aged seven to 13 and is urging EU policymakers to adopt rules enabling platforms to detect previously unseen abuse material.
