Amazon Employee Regrets Not Building External Reputation

Business Insider published an account from an Amazon employee who said his biggest career regret was being afraid to build a reputation outside the company. The employee stated that without a public record of his work he missed opportunities to speak at industry events, serve on conference committees, and strengthen his position if he needed to find a new job. He added that the effort can sometimes feel like a second job.
