Founder Seeks To Break Carnot And Landauer Limits With Photonic Emitters
Danielle Fong says the idea sounds like "crank crackpottery" and still wants to test it anyway.
“i want to break the carnot limit and the landauer limit. at minimum in theory,* but ideally in practice and most ideally, commercially”
Danielle Fong@DanielleFongTECH#756In a post on X, founder Danielle Fong said she wants to "break the Carnot limit and the Landauer limit," first in theory and ideally in practice and commercially. She framed it as an intuition pump, argued that batteries and fuel cells already exceed Carnot for chemical engines at their temperatures, and said she hopes to show something similar with chemically and nuclear driven photonic emitters and bandgap-matched absorbers. For now, the public case is still just that: a claim in her own post, not a demonstrated result.
“I live in dread of engineers like you, because often limits (e.g. the diffraction or Betz limit) can be circumvented with devious engineering. Good luck!”
