Some users supported the Hugging Face CEO's DC meetings to help open-source AI prevail, while others dismissed the effort as pointless due to heavy lobbying by competitors and US regulatory constraints.

@ClementDelangue I believe thisis the start of extreme control of AI by the US governement. They will choke it so its not more powerful then they are. And the Chinese were distilling Fable to create their own Mythos with Deepseek considering they were to ban all foreign nationals to use it.

@ClementDelangue Don't know what it's like today, but back in the 90's you had to hire a good lobbyist to get proper access. If open-source AI and pushing back on concentration of power are actually priorities, the community will need to put real money behind sustained advocacy.

@ClementDelangue Aim for the ones that publicly want the US to be a leader in AI. If it doesn't align with their initiatives or help expand their circle of power, I think your talks will fall on deaf ears. Politicians are the worst.
@ClementDelangue consider timing carefully; aligning your message with current events can amplify its impact. also, think about who’s already in the conversation about ai to make meaningful connections.
