PS5 Digital Edition price rises from $399 at launch to $599 in 2026

Engadget reports that the PS5 Digital Edition rose from $399 at its 2020 launch to $599 in 2026, while the disc model rose from $499 to $649. It attributes the increases to an industry-wide RAM and NAND shortage and says AI data center demand is a major factor in the memory crunch. Sony has said rising memory prices increase PS5 manufacturing costs.
