AirPods firmware update adds custom EQ controls
Apple's release notes say supported AirPods can now adjust low, mid and high frequencies from a new Equalizer control.
TLDR
Apple has released AirPods firmware that enables Custom EQ on AirPods 4 and later, AirPods Pro 2 and later, and AirPods Max 2. The new Equalizer control lets listeners adjust low, mid and high frequencies from AirPods settings. The firmware installs automatically while the earbuds or headphones are charging near a connected Apple device on Wi-Fi, so there is no manual update button. AirPods Pro 3 also gains GymKit on iPhone support for compatible cardio equipment.
