PHP2Shell attackers reportedly run shell commands on Adel Karimi’s honeypots
SecurityWeek reports 35 shells launched across Adel Karimi’s three single-worker mod_php honeypots on October 24.
TLDR
Researcher Adel Karimi’s sensors recorded 35 shells launched on October 24 after an earlier observation period yielded crashes but no code execution, SecurityWeek reports. PHP had patched the two PHP2Shell flaws on October 21. Karimi cautioned that the result came from a favorable single-worker Apache mod_php setup and does not measure exploit reliability on other configurations. SecurityWeek reports that no second-stage the available reporting download was observed.
