interestingly, Anthropic's breakdown of "distillation attacks" (Feb 23 2026, ≈2 weeks after V4-Flash was deployed) suggested a very surgical reverse engineering approach from DeepSeek. This is MiniMax desperation tier, bulk capability cloning. I'm in disbelief.
Tbh, if they came out and said "yeah we ran a proxy on our API, you mad bro", that'd probably be more dignified than spinning up a nominally unaffiliated transfer station. But not doing that can also point to a skill issue. In any case I'm disappointed already.
Generally, we know how V4 works, we know they've had about 3 months, and we know the V3 to V3.2-Speciale trajectory. It's near-unthinkable that they haven't advanced V4 to a semi-frontier level by now, distillation or no. If they still failed, it's indicative of some disaster.
