head-to-head rn the US wins, but between 2 civilisations, the one that wants to win harder will win eventually
IMO, the US wins on shorter AGI timelines. If timelines are long, China wins 1. 80% of Chinese are optimistic about AI, vs 35% for USA 2. Chinese researchers are winning larger shares of top publications 3. Chinese unis are investing in AI much more than US unis 4. Infrastructure
