Meta began rolling out voice conversations and expressive avatars in the Muse app in the US on Nov. 5, 2026. Alexandr Wang, Meta’s chief AI officer, wrote that users could phone and video chat with their Muse agent. The AI at Meta account described Muse Realtime Avatar as technology that turns Muse Realtime Voice into expressive, interactive avatars, following a preview at Meta’s Connect conference.
Jay Peters of The Verge tried voice conversations in the iOS app. He reported that the avatar at the top of the conversation animated in time with its speech. Peters also described two ways to change the voice tone: asking the agent for what they want or browsing options in avatar settings. In a Muse Threads post reproduced by The Verge, Meta offered a choice of “hundreds of voices.” Peters said the agent responded quickly in his brief tests, though it sometimes paused, and his chosen avatar felt “a little uncanny.”
The app features are rolling out in the US. The Verge reported that Meta planned to bring them to its AI glasses “soon” and make them available on the forthcoming Muse Charm.
