AI safety groups and donors have reportedly spent $48 million on 2026 election races

Axios reports that a new analysis puts AI safety groups’ and individual donors’ spending on Democratic and Republican races at $48 million this election cycle. The tally includes donations from AI researchers. Guardrails Alliance, a tech-worker-backed safety group, has raised $11.7 million between its super PAC and nonprofit, Axios says.
