Keybytes is an open-source keyboard made from rearrangeable magnetic keys
The Register reports each key has a RISC-V microcontroller; a separate module coordinates them and connects to the computer.
TLDR
The Register reports that MIT student Nathan Alspaugh designed Keybytes with magnetic, interchangeable key modules. Pogo pins link adjacent keys for power and communication, letting builders arrange them in different layouts. Alspaugh estimated a full-sized keyboard would cost around $900. The project files are on GitHub.
