More to the point: In domains where we don't yet know what will be most cost effective, let's try multiple things and see what works.
I'm not even sure we *should* decarbonize things like steel/cement… might be better to just develop low-cost CDR and massively scale it up
Users strongly agree with Ramez Naam's call for multiple decarbonization approaches because it enables incentives that could make various carbon storage methods more efficient than current in-ground practices.

@ramez @jasoncrawford Strongly agree with #2; it makes far more sense to put in place rules / taxes / incentives across areas and see where the constraints are easiest to relax. (Of course, the smartest approach is to just tax net carbon-equivalent output, but then you hit political roadblocks.)
@ramez @jasoncrawford On #1, I'm optimistic that various forms of carbon storage will be more efficient than the currently pursued methods of in-ground storage, notably including carbon storage in concrete. (And making cement carbon-neutral is achievable with clinker substitution + electric kilns.)
