The pattern you described (“Clone repo X from GitHub to /tmp for reference" is one of my most used prompting patterns”) is so valuable. I use “ghost repos” as architectural reference and the difference it can make is huge. Even cross language ghost repos can help. It’s a pattern I’m constantly promoting. 🍺
"Clone repo X from GitHub to /tmp for reference" is one of my most used prompting patterns This isn't the first time Claude Code on the web has regressed like this - it's really important functionality, please fix it and make sure it stays fixed!
@simonw @AnthropicAI Claude Code keeping us safe from our own public repos is a top tier feature. Love when the agent decides terminal isolation means no outside friends.
@simonw @AnthropicAI Nothing destroys development flow faster than an AI agent environment deciding basic git clones are a national security threat.
@simonw @AnthropicAI the "start a new session" workaround for a completely public repo is a wild ask - hopefully that error message doesn't survive long
@communicating @simonw Yep, mega useful ^^
I am begging @AnthropicAI please add an automated test suite somewhere that ensures Claude Code on the web never blocks me from cloning or interacting with other public repos from within my existing sessions
