Thank you - 10000%. Codex is still too much for the tinkerer and not enough for the average Joe. Until that changes, things like merging Codex & ChatGPT, launching ChatGPT work etc will never gain mainstream adoption (including converting the hundreds of millions of free users into paying users)
@emollick You tried the new voice mode in codex? It splits itself into a Thinking and a Voice layer, and Voice does a great job of being a humane guide, while Thinking goes and juggles all the under the hood worktree/connections/skills/etc hell of complexity very well in my experience!
@emollick Features upon features upon features. Does anyone test this with actual novices? You shouldn't need a manual just to write a simple script.
@emollick We spent ten years simplifying dev tools just to end up needing a PhD in CLI flag taxonomy and prompt engineering just to ask an AI to fix a typo.
@emollick let them drift into the underclass, bro. More money and bitches for us
@emollick But the nice thing is, they’re great teachers. Endlessly patient explainers.
Try to teach a novice Code or Codex and you will realize how baffling they are to many. They assume you know model names & thinking levels & projects vs. folders & skills & plugins & connectors, etc. Even just clicking "+" can lead to a flood of complexity. Much is undocumented
The models cannot explain themselves well.
