The text-to-speech accessibility feature can be toggled by pressing the remote's Options button, marked with a star, four times in quick succession. It can also be turned off through Home > Settings > Accessibility > Screen Reader. Users who do not need the shortcut can disable it in the same Screen Reader settings so accidental button presses do not turn narration back on.

Screen Reader provides text-to-speech navigation for people who are blind or have low vision. As Engadget explains, it is also easy to activate accidentally because Roku assigns it a remote-control shortcut.

Press the Options button, marked with a star, four times in quick succession to toggle Screen Reader off. The same four presses turn it on again.

The feature can also be disabled through the interface:

Press Home on the Roku remote.
Open Settings.
Select Accessibility.
Open Screen Reader and choose Off.

To prevent the shortcut from reactivating narration, open the Screen Reader settings again and turn the Shortcut option off. That leaves the accessibility control available in Settings while removing the four-press trigger.
