DO doomslide@doomslideStrengthening: 90% of pure mathematics will be dead in a few decades irrespective of any further AI progress. The younger generation will not carry mathematical objects as their mentors did - the clankers will. Eventually, pure math will be shuffled out of the dataset. Fin.

DO doomslide@doomslideOne can imagine a tenured class with more foresight converting their prestige at its peak into coherent diplomatic steps that could have addressed this. It seems too many mathematicians were in it for problem solving and rather abandon it for riches now than fight for its fate.
