F-Droid 2.0 rebuilds its Android app store around discovery and smoother installs

F-Droid is rolling out version 2.0 of its open-source Android app store after 14 test releases, calling it the project's largest app update in a decade. The client now uses Discover, Search and My Apps tabs, searches descriptions and translated content, and adopts newer Android installer APIs for earlier approval and smoother updates on supported devices. Background update checks and installs are enabled by default, with manual controls still available. The rebuild drops Android 6, does not yet support F-Droid Privileged Extension, and launches before the replacement for Nearby sharing is ready.
