Indonesia can use Grok again
Indonesia has conditionally lifted the temporary block on Grok, the AI chatbot by xAI, following a temporary ban due to concerns over sexually explicit and harmful content. The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) has imposed strict compliance measures, including enhanced technical protections, restrictions on certain features, and ongoing monitoring, before allowing access again. This decision reflects Indonesia's proactive stance in regulating AI technologies and sets a precedent for how emerging AI tools are governed in Southeast Asia.
Indonesia banned Grok in early January, and on the last day of the first month of 2026, they lifted the ban, provided that X complies with the terms their government laid.
