OpenAI's official developer account posted that transparent backgrounds are now available in preview for GPT-Image-2 in the API. The update lets users generate reusable assets for product imagery, graphic design, website mockups, and marketing campaigns. Research engineer Thibault Sottiaux separately noted the same capability works in ChatGPT and the API, sharing a photo of a cactus image prepared for printing.
