Researcher Questions ChatGPT Work and Chat Mode Differences
Lucas Beyer observes an animated tamagochi and model selector variations in the interface.
AI researcher Lucas Beyer posted on X questioning the distinctions in ChatGPT's web interface between work and chat modes. He notes they appear similar except for an animated tamagochi feature and a different model selector UI. In response, research engineer Florian Brand joked that work mode indicates serious questions while chat mode includes the tamagochi. The exchange reflects user uncertainty regarding OpenAI's mode-specific features in the ChatGPT platform.
I'm almost afraid to ask but... in the web interface, what on earth is the difference between chatgpt "work" and "chat" mode? They seem the same to me, besides having this little animated tamagochi? And a different model selector UI.
