ON GOING DIRECT WITH YOUR STORY or, why relying on journalists is perilous
the Guardian Labs had had a great piece on LightSail Energy, my previous company. this was great while while I was raising money in 2017, when funds for hardtech of any kind were in extreme drought.
when the GTM hit piece came out on me (I refuse to link this but you can see my response here https://daniellefong.com/2022/01/12/long-overdue-updates-re-lightsail-energy/), they asked me to respond. I took the time to respond to every subpoint. at the end, they said "but why would Eric lie?" and they deleted their article.
their argument was essentially that Caesar's Wife Must Be Above Suspicion, since the company Edward Jones was sponsoring the section. 🤦🏻♀️
(they have since been under SEC investigation & ordered to pay fines, so could they have been they were trying to launder their reputation in the first place? 🤷🏻♀️ hard to say!! https://www.encompassadvisors.com/post/3-things-edward-jones-sec-fines)
the editor claimed that they were just taking the article off the hub, then they deleted the article -- now you can't even recover it from http://archive.org
it's a shame really!
shortly thereafter, wikipedia deleted my page. I had to fight to get a stub back!
I made the decision then to avoid any dependence on supposed Journalist institutions to tell my story. they are scumbags.

the best way to answer your doubters is wild success, to come back and solve the crisis (eg. the energy crisis) you set out to solve. there's fire in my belly, extra motivation to fight through, every day.
the whole system conspired to build companies up, and then profit by tearing them down. for clicks! Eric Wesoff literally said this was part of the deal. he's been blocked for ages, but youstill see him skulking around the ecosystem. beware.
well, thanks to Twitter (thx @elonmusk, seriously) i've got my own platform again, and the chance to change the world.
i'd be damned if that weren't hella motivating. ain't no mountain high enough!! 🏔️🏃🏻
