Google Makes Visible AI Watermarks Optional
Google lets users turn off visible watermarks on AI media from Gemini and Flow but keeps invisible markers.
TLDR
Josh Woodward, a Google VP, posted that the company is making visible watermarks optional on AI-generated images, videos, and music created in Gemini and Flow. Invisible SynthID watermarks and C2PA metadata remain in place for detection. Users can still check provenance through Gemini or Search. The change does not apply to text. A linked Google blog post states the company is expanding tools to show how content was created and edited. Rohan Paul summarized the update in a separate post.
