Bend2 Type Checker Switches to BunJS
Victor Taelin reports major performance gains after testing BunJS with Bend2.
Entities: Victor Taelin, Jarred Sumner
Victor Taelin, creator of Bend and related open-source tools, announced that switching the Bend2 type checker from NodeJS to BunJS produced speed improvements ranging from 20% to 90% on various tasks. The project is now migrating. Bun creator Jarred Sumner noted that bundling the standard library enables SIMD optimizations and version stability not possible otherwise. The change highlights runtime-specific advantages for proof and language tooling workloads.
Quick shoutout to @bunjavascript. Bend2's checker was completely designed around NodeJS (and it was already beating all other proof langs by a mile 😉). I asked Fable to test BunJS just for curiosity and everything is suddenly 20% to 90% faster We're migrating now. Nice
