how much uplift is AI giving engineers in 2026 vs 2025? here's a neat study from @EpochAIResearch estimating uplift for codex engineers, using an LLM to estimate how long each merged PR would take an unassisted engineer 8% of contributor-days in Q2 2026 were estimated at above 24 hours of unassisted effort (up from 2% a year before) (ofc, it remains v. difficult to do a full credit assignment, mapping contribution sizes to project velocity, but it's nice data)
