Gemini Notebook gains Connected App integration for managing notebooks in chats

Google has added Gemini Notebook as a Connected App in Gemini, bringing notebook management into chats, Abner Li reported for 9to5Google on Oct. 23. Notebooks were already available in Gemini’s side panel; the Connected App integration is the new part.

Li reports that users can create, edit or delete notebooks, manage their sources, save notes and ask questions using notebook contents. His report quotes Google saying Gemini can “automatically detect when to use the Gemini Notebook Connected App for relevant prompts.” Ryan McNeal at Android Authority writes that users can also invoke it by typing @Gemini Notebook in a chat.

As of Oct. 23, 9to5Google reported that Google described the integration as available to Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers and users with personal Google accounts. Quoting Google, it said the app was enabled by default globally except in the European Economic Area, where it was off by default.
