OpenAI Releases ChatGPT Desktop App for Linux in Preview
Supports Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, Debian 13, and Fedora on x64 and ARM64 via deb and rpm packages.
OpenAI posted that the ChatGPT desktop app is now in preview for Linux. The app gives access to ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex on supported distributions. Official replies list Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and 26.04 LTS, Debian 13, Fedora 43 and 44. Installation uses.deb or.rpm packages for x64 or ARM64. One OpenAI engineer stated the release brings feature parity except native app Computer Use, which is coming soon. The company linked to openai.com/codex for details on the coding tools included.
