Today we're releasing a new set of components for building chat interfaces.
We've taken the patterns we build every day, rethought the abstractions behind them, and turned them into components you can compose and customize.
We're starting with the conversation layer: streaming, scrolling, messages, bubbles, attachments, and markers.
Many users praised shadcn's new components for building AI chat interfaces as cool and helpful for open-source work, while a few called the release overhyped or underwhelming.

@rauchg @shadcn the streaming and auto-scroll logic were always the biggest headaches. shipping this as a core component saves everyone a few dozen hours of fighting with react refs and effect hooks.

@rauchg @shadcn shadcn solves the atoms. The molecule layer - streaming states, tool call visibility, mid-flight interrupts - is still blank canvas. Nobody's shipped a coherent pattern system for that yet. That's the actual AI UI problem.
